We’re being thoughtful about AI.
What they mean: We bought the licenses and made no other decisions.
Thoughtfulness is doing a lot of work when procurement has finished but policy, training, and useful workflows have not.
When you hear it
This phrase often appears after a tool has been purchased but before anyone has documented acceptable use, chosen useful workflows, or assigned ownership for the rollout.
A clearer version
“We purchased the tool, but the rollout plan and operating rules are not finished.”
What to ask next
Ask which decisions are complete, who owns the remaining ones, what data is approved, and when employees will receive practical guidance.
